Józefów near Biłgoraj – April 17, 2014 |
Zbigniew Niziński from the Lasting Memory Foundation and Adam Sikorski’s team of “Było, nie minęło” (“Once was and did not pass”) aired on TVP Lublin, conducted ground research at the place of execution and burial of approximately 1500 Jews murdered on 13 July 1942 by German Reserve Police Battalion 101. The aim of using a ground penetrating radar was to establish the location of the victims’ burial pits. Subsequently, six mass graves were located and marked. A forest district manager Leszek Dmitroca from Józefów Biłgorajski Forestry Management and a president of Foundation “Honor, Ojczyzna” (“Honor, Homeland”) Dariusz Szymanowski were involved in the works. |
