Wola Łaskarzewska – December 9, 2014

In Wola Łaskarzewska, in a public school named in memory of the village of Wanaty, Zbigniew Niziński presented photographs of the Lasting Memory Foundation’s commemorations of the people murdered during World War II as well as places affected by genocide. Among the participants were a parish priest of Łaskarzew Edmund Szarek and Zofia Kamionowska from the Association of Children of the Holocaust.

Zaburze near Szczebrzeszyn - December 2, 2014.

The pupils and teachers of schools in Zaburze and Radecznica, local residents and other guests gathered around two commemorated graves where 14 Jews lie buried, to pay tribute to the murdered ones. The victims’ names, identified by the Foundation, have been inscribed on the memorial plaques marking the graves. The Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich and the vicar priest of Mokrelipie parish said prayers. The students performed poetry recitations. Among the participants were also eyewitnesses to the events which had taken place in Zaburze in 1942.

Wąsewo – November 27, 2014

A meeting between Zofia Kamionowska, member of the Association of Children of the Holocaust, Zbigniew Niziński of the Lasting Memory Foundation and the students and teachers took place in Jan Paweł II Junior Highschool in Wąsewo. The lecture and presentation concerned the activities that have been performed to commemorate nearly forgotten people and graves as well as the stories of people who had been rescued during World War II.

Charlejów – November 17, 2014

In a meadow in Charlejów, the Foundation marked a burial pit of two Jews, brother and sister, who had been killed there towards the end of 1942 while hiding in a haystack. Some time before, in other place, their family of six were murdered. All of them came to the town from Łódź during the war.

Kraków – October 22, 2014

On the occasion of giving the name of the Righteous among the Nations of the World to a Catholic Montessori School in Kraków, Zbigniew Niziński delivered a lecture and presentation to the students, regarding the commemoration of people and places related to the common history of Poles and Jews. The students heard the stories of Poles who had been rescuing Jews in WWII as well as those of people whose lives they had saved. The presentation included photographs from Zbigniew Niziński’s actions of searching for unmarked mass graves of Jews and commemorations of those graves, conducted by the Lasting Memory Foundation.
